"Rebirth" was created during the month following my youngest daughter's passing. She passed unexpectedly, and it left my world in chaos and my heart shattered into a million pieces. The grief was overwhelming and all-consuming for the days immediately following her transition. I lost my passion for painting, until one afternoon, when I was searching for something that could connect me to her. I had taught her to draw, and for us both, art was therapy. It was a way to work through emotions that felt too heavy. That afternoon, I decided I needed to paint, even if I couldn’t see what I was doing due to the tears streaming down my cheeks. I wanted to paint what I felt as I wondered where she was, hoping she could hear me as I poured my heart out to her. As I began to paint, the scenery unfolded of a space where time does not exist, nor does pain, only love. A space where worlds are created and energy becomes everything. A place that is eternal and beautiful, beyond our imagination began to unfold and I believe my hands were guided by my daughter's. As the piece came together, she appeared in the painting, her beautiful hair became the swirls of galaxies in the making. And the same hair and galaxy dust created a heart, none of which were planned. To my grieving mom heart, it was a loving message sent by my daughter to tell me she is happy, whole, and that she is with me always. To all those who have had their life forever changed by the passing of someone dear to them, I hope this painting brings you a sense of hope, joy and peace, and a knowing that your loved one is not lost, only reborn into a space of perfect love. They hear you, they are with you, and the connection you shared cannot be destroyed. All my love to you.
This painting is part of my collection, “The Journey”, in which I have been intuitively painting what I feel as I wonder where she is, what it looks like, what she is doing. Each painting in this collection holds a place that is eternal and beautiful, beyond our human imaginations. I believe my hands are intuitively guided by my daughter's as I create the paintings in this collection. There are so many things we just don’t know, yet there are also many people who have shared experiences that offer us a glimpse into what might be on the other side. I don’t know the answers, of course, but I am trusting what I feel in my heart. I have found my curiosity compels me to continue allowing my intuition and feelings to guide my creative process as I add to this collection.

Beautiful Satin Canvas is a OBA free, neutral white water resistant canvas composed of a luxurious poly/cotton blend giving it a uniform low glare finish, 400gsm, 18mil, and are printed with archival pigment inks that are engineered to last at least 100 years under proper display and storage conditions. Prints will be stretched on 1.5” stretcher bars and have a satin UV coating applied.
